How do I convert kilometers into meters?
Multiply by 1,000, or move the decimal point three places to the right. 5 km is 5,000 m.
It works the same way with decimals: a half marathon is 21.0975 km, which is 21,097.5 m, and 0.4 km is a 400 m running track lap.
There's no rounding to worry about. The "kilo" literally means a thousand.
What is a kilometer?

What is a meter?
The meter is the SI base unit of length and is equal to 100 centimeters or 1,000 millimeters. It was originally defined as one ten-millionth of the distance from the North Pole to the equator along the meridian through Paris. Since 1983 it has been the distance light travels in a vacuum in 1/299,792,458 of a second.
