UK pints
UK pints are volume units used in the United Kingdom for measuring liquids such as beer and milk. One UK pint is about 0.568 liters.
UK law requires draught beer and cider to be sold in pints, halves or thirds of a pint, and still allows milk in returnable bottles to be sold by the pint.
Liters
A Liter is a metric volume unit equal to 1,000 cubic centimeters, 1 cubic decimeter or 33.814 fluid ounces in the imperial system. The volume is equivalent to a cube with 10cm on each of its sides.
The liter was defined in 1795, in the French metric system introduced after the Revolution, as a cubic decimeter. From 1901 to 1964 it was redefined as the volume of 1 kilogram of water, which made it 1.000028 cubic decimeters.
When converting volume measurements, be sure to remember that the dimensions are cubed and so doubling the sides of a cube will increase the volume by a factor of eight.
