How do I convert millimeters to microns?
A thousand microns make a millimetre, so multiply by 1,000. A micron is the same thing as a micrometre (µm), so 0.05 mm is 50 microns and 2.5 mm is 2,500 microns.
You'll usually be going small. Kitchen foil is around 0.016 mm thick, which is 16 microns, and a 0.5 mm pencil lead is 500 microns.
