The Dobra, pegged to the Euro at €1=24500STD, is the currency of Sâo Tomé and Principe. The coinage comes in 100, 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 Dobras. Banknotes come in denominations of 5000, 10000, 20000, 50000 and 100000 Dobra bills.
Most São Tomé and Príncipe Dobra banknotes show a portrait of Rei Amador, a slave King of Angolores mythology.
Origin:
The Dobra was introduced in 1977 to replace the Escudo at par and to help create an environment of stability. The Dobra has been linked to the Euro since 2010.
