Description:

The CFP Franc is the currency of the Change Franc Pacifique which translates as the "Pacific Franc Exchange" and is made up of French Polynesia, New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna. The coinage comes in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 Francs. Bills are issued in 500, 1000, 5000 and 10000 Franc notes.

Before 2014 the design of French Polynesian CFP Franc banknotes had not changed since 1969. In early 2014, the IEOM (Institut d'Emission d'Outre-Mer) unveiled designs for a new series of banknotes. Old notes were phased out from 30th September 2014.

Origin:

The CFP Franc is the currency of the French overseas collective of French Polynesia, New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna. The currency was created due to the weakness of the French Franc post 1945. The CFP was initially fixed against the US Dollar and then subsequently fixed against the French Franc. Since 1999 the CFP Franc has been fixed against the Euro at 1,000 XFP = 8.38 Euro.
